New Advisor Resource Guide

Message from Benton Shirey, Director of University Advising

Dear New Advisor,

What an opportunity you have to make a lasting impression in the life of our students! As a new advisor, you will often be the first point of contact for students as they navigate college and their degree program. EKU, as a school of opportunity, has a well established reputation for meeting students where they are and helping them progress to both academic and social maturity. Our habits of early intervention and referral to academic and student support services, helps to make EKU unique among colleges and universities in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We care, and it shows!

As a new advisor you will be supported by your College, Department Chair, other faculty and staff advisors, as well as The University Advising Office. There are plenty of resources and information for advisors and students on the EKU Advising home page Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions or would like to have advisor training – our office and staff are here to help.
